7 versions of the rim have been tested in different combinations with the aim of obtaining the best performance in terms of aerodynamics, rolling resistance, lightness and drivability, without compromising safety.

Even the graphic design is renewed by declining the new identity of the Form Function Fulcrum brand, characterized by an essential and at the same time refined design.

New wheels that are more performing and safer

The new Speed are available in two versions, with 42 mm and 57 mm profiles that replace the previous 40 mm and 55 mm while the width of the channel grows from 19 mm to 23 mm; but also the nose of the circle is enlarged with a radius of 9.5 mm.

The new rims are able to offer a performance combination without compromise, in which aerodynamic penetration, rolling resistance and comfort find their best expression.

Not only increased performance but also safety thanks to MOMAG assembly technology that allows you to have a native 2-WAY FIT™ Tubeless rim, without the need for any sealing tape.

In addition, the absence of holes on the rim channel allows you to maintain the same rigidity along the entire perimeter, also offering greater impact resistance.

The challenge of the rays

The challenge was this: how to avoid energy loss? The answer was the use of 24 aerodynamic flat spokes designed specifically for this wheel and fastened thanks to the Two-to-One™ system, which provides for the doubling of the spokes in areas subject to greater mechanical stress.

The front wheel therefore has 16 spokes on the side of the disc and 8 on the other side, while the rear wheel is built in the opposite way to counteract the forces developed by the transmission. This specific construction, combined with the perfect tensioning of the spokes, gives the wheel a torsional rigidity that allows maximum force transfer.

Redesigned hubs

The bearings used for the Fulcrum Speed 42 and 57 are of the cone-shell type and involve the use of the USB™ (Ceramic Ultra Smooth Bearings) system with ceramic balls, which guarantees unparalleled smoothness.

The freewheel rack has been reinforced and increased and now houses 36 teeth. The wheel is available in Campagnolo N3W, Shimano HG and Sram XDR body configurations.

All these innovations have a single goal: to convey the perfect driving sensation that can only arise from the balance between lightness, drivability and aerodynamics.

Tubeless technology was adopted in the automotive industry, then in the motorcycle industry and finally in cycling. After the debut with mountain biking it's time to "put it on the road": and that's what Fulcrum offers us. It has developed 2-Way Fit™ technology to ensure the perfect compatibility of their tubeless rims even with normal tires and inner tubes. The 2-Way Fit™ wheels are perfectly versatile to face any situation. Thanks to a particular imprint in the valve area, the assembly of the air chambers takes place with maximum precision, keeping the chamber inside the clincher perfectly stable. Even the valve for tubeless covers is housed without risk, with the undoubted advantage that there are never air infiltrations due to a non-optimal positioning at the time of assembly. The advantages are clear: the various tests have shown an unprecedented increase in smoothness. Since there is no air chamber, in fact, friction due to friction with the cover is eliminated and the perfect adherence of the clincher on the rim avoids energy dispersion. A tubeless tire does not suffer from sudden sagging in the event of a puncture, therefore, a nice advantage in terms of safety. No risk of pinching, then, because there is no inner tube to break.

Undrilled rim bed

The absence of holes on the upper deck is synonymous with a homogeneous product at every point, free of critical points subject to stress. The advantages are immediately perceived: less weight, longer rim life, greater resistance to fatigue, possibility of tensioning the spokes more and greater stiffness which, in terms of performance, mean more reactivity and acceleration.
