ARC 1100 Dicut DB - DT Swiss 's most advanced wheels for safe bike handling at all times

The latest generation of ARC 1100 DICUT wheels has been developed in collaboration with SWISS SIDE, an expert leader in aerodynamic optimization. As a result, the new AERO+ rim profile minimizes both drag and steering moment to improve aerodynamics and control even in strong lateral vento . In this way, it is easier for the rider to keep the wheel under control, while taking advantage of the thrust effect. The wheel configuration is rounded off by the new aerodynamic spokes DT Swiss in combination with the elegant 180 DICUT hub with ultra-light SINC ceramic bearings.

Technologies

Tubeless
The Tubeless Ready rims in the DT Swiss range offer additional advantages over traditional rims. Their cross-sectional design allows the tire to bead more easily when inflating, even with a standard floor pump. The elaborate rim profile also DT Swiss ensures a precise and secure fit of the tyre even during aggressive driving.

Aero+
The symbiosis of resistance, manoeuvrability and efficiency. When refining a wheel according to AERO+, the optimization of all parameters is subject to a single goal: higher speeds!

  • Translational drag: Aerodynamic drag is the aerodynamic force in the direction of travel that slows the rider down. If you want to be faster, the key is to reduce the drag of the entire system.
  • Sail effect: In lateral vento conditions, the rider and la bici are exposed to lateral forces that affect riding behavior. When developing road bike wheels, the goal is to minimize these lateral forces and maximize the navigation effect - in combination with improved rideability.
  • Quintessential aerodynamic drag: In reverse vento and slight sideways vento , the rider is slowed down by aerodynamic drag. The values in watts are positive (above the red line at +/-14° yaw) and the aerodynamic drag is perceived as exhausting. However, the sideways vento combined with high rim profiles support the rider in a positive way. When the watt values reach the negative range (below the red line at 15-20° yaw), the rider benefits from the wheel sail effect with propulsion.
  • Rotational Resistance: Rotational resistance accounts for up to 25% of total resistance compared to 75% of translational resistance. Since the spokes are the connection to the rim and the hub, they take on a significant importance that should not be underestimated in the fight against vento: the lower the height of the rim, the less influence the sail effect has. Therefore, longer radii in low rim profiles lead to higher rotational strength.
  • Steering moment: Lateral forces come into contact with the wheel and can affect drivability. Manoeuvrability must therefore be safe and predictable, regardless of external weather conditions, such as the strong and changeable transverse vento and the vento reverse. In order to achieve a controlled speed, the AERO+ rim is further refined in this regard with a lower steering moment. The rider benefits from more predictable, and therefore controlled, steering behaviour, which results in longer periods in the aerodynamically optimal position and higher speeds.
  • Rolling resistance: Wider tires tend to have a positive influence on rolling resistance. Due to their larger volume, they have a larger contact area and can be driven with less air pressure without risking crushing them. Compared to the narrower contact area of narrow tires, the contact area of wider tires is "shorter". As a result, the tyre deforms more easily and rolling resistance decreases.

Ratchet XP

  • Easy maintenance: DT Swiss hubs are also known for their notool technology. DT Swiss has also found a way to further improve this system and make maintenance even easier, with a small modification of the end caps.
  • Freehub body conversion: Simplified thanks to easier disassembly.
  • Less weight: Not only is reliability improved. The fusion of ratchet and threaded ring reduces the number of individual parts of the system, which offers an important advantage.
  • Less wear: A single cylindrical spring ensures faster and more complete engagement and thus increases reliability
  • Superior reliability: The full engagement of the ratchets creates a large contact surface and therefore a low surface pressure that leads to superior reliability.
  • Longer bearing life: Integrating the bearing into the threaded ring allows you to maximize bearing clearance. The increased distance additionally supports the axle, which results in less deflection of the axle and thus protects the bearings and increases their service life.

Sinc Ceramic
SINC ceramic ball bearings were developed by DT Swiss. They are based on balls made of silicon nitride (Si3N4), an extremely tough ceramic material that is resistant to wear and corrosion. The bearing rings are made of specially developed alloy steel, adapted to the properties of the specific ceramic material used and precisely ground. This combination reduces rolling resistance to an absolute minimum and ensures a longer service life than conventional ball bearings.
But it's not just the bearing itself that is designed as a system. Only by using tolerances within a few thousandths of a millimeter and precisely adjusting the seat tolerances of DT Swiss hub bearings, Sinc ceramic bearings offer their full potential and offer the decisive advantage over competing products.
