The density of the fabric is expressed in threads per inch, or TPI (threads-per-inch): the higher the number of TPI, the finer the single thread will be and the denser the weft. The higher the TPI, the more flexible the rubber will be. The incredibly robust and fine cotton makes it possible to produce carcasses with the highest possible TPI count.

The advantages of cotton carcasses.
Cotton is the material traditionally used for the production of high-quality tubulars. Vittoria produces all its carcasses in-house, of each section, starting from natural cotton at 220 TPI for its range of tubulars.

A fabric with thin threads and finely woven allows to obtain a softer and more flexible carcass, which offers a superior grip thanks to a greater contact surface with the asphalt. And it also improves comfort, because micro impacts are better absorbed. Finally, the speed also goes up, thanks to a lower rolling resistance.
