Dura Ace R9200 - Never compromise

Several years of research have produced the innovations that make the Shimano Dura Ace R9200 even faster. Every component has been reworked, refined and optimised to enable the decisive seconds of advantage - both in the breakaway from the peloton and in the final sprint on the Champs-Élysées.

Di2 electronics use wireless technology where it counts to make shifting even faster and more reliable. Smooth shifting is also the goal of the Hyperglide+ system, already known in the MTB segment, which has been designed to bring out the maximum performance and full potential of every rider.

Wheels are a crucial pillar in Shimano's "Science of Speed" development concept, they literally bring the rider's performance to the road.

To meet this demand, the engineers paid attention to the optimal balance of three factors according to the different areas of use: Aerodynamics, stiffness and low weight.

C60 Rim Profile - Low Drag for Maximum Speed

With a focus on aerodynamic efficiency and high stiffness, the WH-R9270-C60 wheelset is ideal for sprinting and high-speed use.

The high-profile rims and stronger spokes than the "flatter" models allow you to put more pressure on the road when cornering, so that every bit of power can be converted into forward motion. Also of note is the sophisticated D2 rim design and the special High Rigidity (HR) rim construction, which increases lateral stiffness by 20% for a powerful response.

While the completely redesigned hubs not only reduce weight but also improve the overall stiffness of the wheels, the 60 mm high rim profile with its design for minimum aerodynamic drag underlines the suitability of the set for flat stages and time trials.

The new generation of wheels not only shines with low air resistance, but also offers technical refinements. Thanks to Direct Engagement technology, the freewheel hubs offer exceptional drivetrain rigidity, which results in an even more direct feel in the power transmission and is particularly noticeable in the initial torque. On the C60 model, the OPTBAL system with its 2:1 spoke ratio also improves the stiffness of both wheels.

D2 rim design

Aerodynamic performance is affected by the direction of the vento. In developing the D2 rim profile, Shimano 's engineers took into account both the front and transverse vento to ensure optimal performance in real-world driving conditions.

Extensive prototype testing in the vento tunnel and on the road has shown that a wide rim shape and a deep shaft offer the best performance in a wide range of conditions. At angles of attack from 0 to 15 degrees, the D2 rim design reduces drag better than other aerodynamic rims. It also increases the lateral stiffness of the wheel and improves vertical directional stability, resulting in greater control, comfort, and durability on the road.

OPTBAL

Wheels with the OPTBAL system use a 2:1 spoke ratio, which results in twice as many spokes on the driver's side as on the opposite side. The technology thus counteracts the voltage imbalance caused by the increased width of the cassettes, especially on the right side. The OPTBAL construction balances this tension of the spokes and thus increases the service life of the spokes. This ultimately improves the stiffness of the entire wheel.
