Now, 14 years after the presentation of the first GP 4000, the legendary Continental has been completely revised and has been better in every single area. Continental claims 12% less rolling resistance for the 5000, 20% more puncture protection and 10% less weight and offers a smoother and more comfortable ride. The Continental 's patented Black Chili compound has been updated with a new formula and laser-etched tread pattern to offer further improved cornering grip. Continental also claims a more aerodynamic clincher surface with less turbulence.

Vectran Breaker
Vectran is a liquid polymer yarn, which is transformed into a thermoplastic and multifilament compound. This semi-crystalline material is duro than aramid, has a tensile strength five times higher than that of steel, and is also lighter than an equivalent nylon thread. Vectran retains its characteristics even in the harshest weather conditions.
