With the E-Grifn, you go further, longer and higher than ever before. We chose the Mahle X20 drive unit because of its very natural riding feel. A distinctive feature of this e-bike is the choice of the Mahle X20 drive unit. It is a compact and proven system that makes the impossible possible. The assistance is proportional to the force you apply to the pedals, achieved through the use of a torque sensor in the bottom bracket that communicates with the software. You have the feeling that you are always pedaling with a pleasant breeze behind you, making every journey a sporting feat. An advantage of the X20 motor is that it runs with virtually no additional mechanical resistance beyond the 25 km/h limit. The system's power delivery gradually fades away, ensuring a very smooth driving experience. This also contributes to the natural feel on the bike. In addition, you can control the motor with your smartphone via the Mahle app and customize it to your preferences. The system also adapts to your driving style. With the Mahle X20, you have three levels of assistance specifically adapted for the Grifn by our product managers in cooperation with Mahle. This 'personalized mapping' is a typical example of our eternal pursuit of perfection. The geometry of the E-Grifn is identical to that of the Grifn RS, with a removable front derailleur clamp, tire clearance up to 42 millimeters and the UDH derailleur mount. The battery is elegantly integrated into the frame, maintaining the sporty look of the E-Grifn.

With the Mahle X20, you have three levels of bike assistance, specially designed for the E-Grifn by our product managers in cooperation with Mahle. We chose to determine these levels ourselves rather than opting for the standard settings, conducting several test sessions with different types of riders until we found the three ideal levels. This custom mapping exemplifies our eternal quest for perfection. Switching between the different levels of assistance can be done via the satellite buttons on the handlebars or via the controller on the top tube, which also visually displays the battery capacity and assistance level. The system is ANT+ compatible, allowing battery status, support level, and personal power to be available to other ANT+ compatible devices.

Mahle X20: A natural driving experience

The Mahle X20 drive unit is a compact and proven system that makes the impossible possible. The assistance is proportional to the force applied to the pedals, made possible by a torque sensor in the bottom bracket that communicates with the software. It is important to note that the system only provides power when you pedal, thus maintaining the feeling of riding a bike with a gentle breeze behind you. In addition, the X20 motor runs with virtually no additional mechanical resistance beyond the 25 km/h limit, ensuring a smooth driving experience. In sintesi, Mahle identifies with three pillars: lightness, sportiness and intelligence!

Mahle batteries with the largest capacity (350 Wh)

For the E-Grifn, Ridley opted for the battery with the largest capacity (350 Wh), with the possibility of extending it further with a 171 Wh range extender that replaces a bottle cage. Based on Mahle's user data, the engineers know that the 350 Wh battery is sufficient for most trips in this off-road segment. The battery can be charged to 80% in 2 hours and fully charged in 3.5 hours. Cleanly integrated into the frame, the battery gives the look of a sports bike the additional support of an electric bike.
