Since the introduction of the high-end XTR groupset, mountain biking has evolved massively. SHIMANO has very carefully analyzed the directions of this development and has elaborated on four fundamental categories in the mountain bike industry. In the competition-oriented cross-country segment, the focus is primarily on performance and physical and conditional requirements, while in the enduro segment the focus is on technical challenges. However, both areas also have their own leisure and fun-oriented sub-segments, which include more conditioned or more technical driving. With the new XTR M9000 series now presented, SHIMANO offers the perfect solution in all these categories for all mountain bikers who settle for nothing less than the best.

SL-M9000 Rapidfire Plus Gearbox

The excellent performance of the gearbox allows the driver to concentrate on the road instead of the controls and always drive in the optimal gear for maximum propulsion efficiency. The further optimized ergonomic design of the SHIMANO XTR M9000 literally takes the gearbox to a new level. The paddle shifters have a textured, non-slip dual surface and are equipped with all high-end technologies such as multi-release, instant-release and 2-way-release. Carbon was chosen as the material for the shifters to keep the weight as basso as possible.

Like its road-going counterpart, the DURA-ACE, the new XTR also uses polymer-coated cables that significantly optimize shifting performance and reduce operating forces by 20 percent and thus significantly.

Note: This version of the gearbox is not compatible with I-Spec. They are secured with clamps.

The

Instant release

It allows for faster gear changes. The cable is released immediately when the lever is operated. You can change faster than before.

The

Multi-Release

(only on the right lever) allows four gear jumps. It is now possible to change different gears in both directions with the main lever or the secondary lever.

2-Way-Release

It allows you to release the cable by pushing it with your thumb or pulling it with your index finger. So you don't have to adapt your driving style to the gearbox, but the gearbox adapts to your driving style.
