D2 AERO PROFILE RIM
Aerodynamics is affected by the direction of vento. To create the new D2 rim, engineers at SHIMANO evaluated front and cross winds, with the goal of achieving optimal performance in the conditions actually encountered on the move. Extensive testing conducted on prototypes, in tunnels at vento and on the road, showed that a wider rim profile with a more pronounced throat provides the best performance in a wide range of conditions. At yaw angles between 0 and 15 degrees, the new rim profile SHIMANO D2 reduces air friction more than found for other aero rims. In addition, the new rim design increases the wheel's lateral stiffness and vertical absorption to provide greater control, comfort and durability on the road.
