As with the Dura Ace R9200, not only does Hyperglide+ make its way into the Ultegra's components, but its Di2 components also rely on wireless technology to further simplify operation and ensure a smooth shift.

Crankset Shimano Ultegra FC-R8100

As a central element of the Ultegra R8100 series 12-speed transmission, the FC-R8100 crankset features the transmission quality and transmission efficiency typical of Shimano. Not only the gears, which have a Hollowglide hollow construction, but also the lightweight crank arms, which are made with Hollowtech II technology, help to optimize power transmission, as well as faster and more precise shifting processes.

All in all, this results in a perfect balance between rigidity, stability, low weight and rotational efficiency. Numerous crank lengths and gradations with 50-34 or 52-36 teeth also offer optimum variability and gear ratio for almost all driving situations.

Hollowtech II

The guiding principle of Shimano 's Hollowtech II technology is the perfect balance of rigidity, stability, weight and rotational efficiency.

The goal was to produce a crank that would minimize the amount of power required for the drive and allow for more efficient power transmission. An exclusive forging process allows the production of extremely light cranks that nevertheless guarantee maximum rigidity. The fixed connection of the right arm to the bottom bracket axis and its external bearing also serve to achieve an optimal balance between rigidity and low weight.
