Details of the Crossmax SL Ultimate Mavic

Adaptive layup technology has allowed Mavic to handcraft these carbon rims with less material between the spokes. The spoke holes are reinforced with a strategically placed carbon layup in a process that minimizes weight without compromising stiffness and strength. A lighter rim means faster acceleration, more efficient downshifting, and a more responsive feel on the trail.

Extensive field testing with professional athletes determined that an internal width of 25mm was ideal for fast and precise ride quality on fast tracks. The wider rim optimized the tire's grip and added confidence and control on rough singletrack. The rim is connected with 24 straight-pull cross-spokes for maximum power transfer and increased vertical compliance. The Infinity hub design optimizes lateral stiffness and the spoke lacing maximizes power transfer.

The Instant Drive 360 freehub coupled with Automatic Bearing Preload Adjustment (QRM Auto) provides fast engagement and long life.
