Now, 14 years after the presentation of the first GP 4000, the legendary Continental has been completely revised and has been better in every single area. Continental declares 12% less rolling resistance for the 5000, 20% more puncture protection and 10% less weight and offers a smoother and more comfortable ride. The Black Chili compound patented by Continental has been updated with a new formula and laser-engraved tread to offer further improved cornering grip. Continental also states a more aerodynamic clincher surface with less turbulence.

Vectran is a liquid polymer yarn, which turns into a thermoplastic compound and multifilaments. This semi-crystalline material is more duro than aramid, has five times the tensile strength of steel and is also lighter than an equivalent nylon wire. Vectran retains its characteristics even in the harshest weather conditions.
