• Road and cyclocross braking has remained in the dark ages. Of course, they are shinier and lighter, but rudimentary. While chassis and transmission development has been the subject of modern space exploration, road braking has languished with the likes of horseshoes and stroller whips. Until now.
SRAM, a long-time leader in hydraulic braking technology under the Avid brand, has redefined the vision of road bike braking for the next decade. Not unlike any other high-speed transport, SRAM brings hydraulic technology to road cycling for multiple applications. Disc or rim brake, SRAM will stop what you pushed, faster and with better modulation. Go ahead and go deep.
The SRAM Force 22 ErgoDynamics™ hydraulic gearbox was born from the DNA of the SRAM RED, the best in its SRAM category, and represents SRAM 's most advanced thinking on perfecting the interface between cyclist and cyclocross bike.

DOT 5.1™
Heat is an enemy of any braking system, so advances in heat management mean progress in your ride. You see, SRAM found that in their systems DOT 5.1 takes almost 3 times longer to boil than DOT 4, thus allowing flawless performance without fading in even more extreme conditions.
Double tap
What it is: DoubleTap® is the cutting-edge technology driving the revolution of the SRAM road group. It is a simple yet elegant and advanced system that solves problems, without compromising performance, comfort and weight, with a revolutionary gearbox/brake lever design.
What it's for: DoubleTap makes changing gears easier and faster, eliminating the bulky and cumbersome engagement associated with two-lever systems. DoubleTap® manages the upper and lower gears with a short and wide movement, with minimum effort and maximum comfort, no matter where you are on the bars.
How it works: DoubleTap® uses two ratchets, one to hold the ratchet wheel and one to carry it up and down through the gearbox. The ratchets are arranged in such a way that they can be climbed over depending on how much and how much pressure you push the gear lever. With short and rapid strokes, the transport ratchet (04) moves the ratchet wheel (02) upwards through the gear range. The passage Downshifting takes place via a stroke longer than the lever (in the same direction inwards as the upper gear, but with an ergonomically maximized angle of 15°) with the sealing pad (03) and the transport ratchet that bypass each other quickly and smoothly.
Position, position, position: DoubleTap's one-way one-way levers (05) work perfectly no matter what position you're moving from. Its dual-articulated design (01), completely separated from the brake pivot, easily attaches to bonnets or drops.
Unlike all other advanced controls, DoubleTap® also allows you to pull the gear lever against the bars so you can shift up gear while shooting or attacking without giving up a firm grip.
Divide and conquer: On DoubleTap® controls, the brake and gear levers are completely independent, each operating with its own articulation points. This not only allows for multi-position functionality, but also eliminates the risk of unintentionally applying the brakes or gear levers, an unfortunate side effect of other models of shift/brake levers.
What it means to you: The efficient and ergonomic design reduces weight and eliminates clutter by adding comfort. You can move from any position on the bars, even during the sprint, giving you a fundamental advantage over the competition, and our new single-lever mechanism also allows you to change gears faster, easier and with greater precision. without the risk of slowing down your speed or losing your grip. DoubleTap® is the cornerstone of SRAM 's assault on road cycling. It's a new way of changing – and a new way of thinking – that puts you ahead of the competition, no matter where you find it.
Reach Rule
The fit and feel of the brake lever is a personal thing. Riders have individual positioning preferences, as well as unique hand sizes and finger lengths. Reach Adjust makes it easy to adjust the lever for maximum one-finger control for everyone.
Yaw™
The front derailleur cage rotates to maintain a consistent angular relationship with the chain. Yaw technology eliminates the need for gearbox trim. As a result, the gearboxes are more direct, more precise and, combined with the new crankset and Red chainrings, offer an unparalleled performance advantage in the front gearbox.
Zero Loss™
ZeroLoss simply means, well, zero losses: when you press the lever, for a higher or lower gear, the cable engages instantly, zero loss of movement. There is no middle ground where you are waiting for your turn to come. Gear changes are instantaneous and precise.
