As with the Dura Ace R9200, not only does the Hyperglide+ make its way into the Ultegra's components, but its Di2 components also rely on wireless technology to further simplify operation and ensure smooth shifting.

Rear derailleur Shimano Ultegra Di2 RD-R8150

The Di2 actuators in the front and rear derailleurs of the current Ultegra series enable significantly higher movement speeds for shorter movement times when changing gears and correspondingly fast shifting processes.

The Shimano Ultegra Di2 RD-R8150 rear derailleur speeds up the changeover process by 58% compared to the previous generation Dura Ace model RD-R9150. The rear derailleur with a uniform cage length and an increased gear ratio of 34 teeth is therefore not only faster than ever, but also ensures highly precise functionality in all conditions.

The integrated transmitter ensures wireless communication with the STI brake/shift levers and thus ensures precise and fast podium shifting. Using Bluetooth and ANT+, it is also responsible for transmitting data to the Shimano E-Tube Project and E-Tube Ride apps, as well as third-party devices.

In addition to the charging port, the normal upper rear derailleur has a button for some Di2 settings and an LED for status display, which informs about the battery level, pairing and setting mode, for example.

RD Shadow

With its sophisticated technology, the Shimano Shadow RD gearbox is particularly suited to a more aggressive driving style. The extremely small profile brings a number of advantages. Thanks to this flat design and construction based on a simple preload, the rear derailleur does not hit the sheath even in the most difficult conditions. The derailleur works cleanly and quietly.
