When you push yourself over the edge, the brain controls the perception of fatigue. Caffeine acts as a brain stimulant to reduce the perception of effort, allowing you to push yourself a little further.
3-9 mg of caffeine per pound of body mass has been shown to affect performance. 5 mg per kilo of body mass, which for a 70kg person is equivalent to 350 mg, is believed to be favorable for endurance performance.
It can take 30-60 minutes after taking it for your caffeine level to peak in your blood, so if you're having a short-lived event (less than 60 minutes), you should take it before starting.
If you're participating in a much longer event, such as a marathon, 100-mile or half-time Ironman triathlon or longer, you should reserve your caffeine intake for the last two hours when you're likely to reach the fatigue threshold.
Take 1 gel 1 hour before exercise for high-intensity, short-duration events to ensure your body starts with high caffeine levels. In events of greater duration consume no more than 2 gels per day. Make sure you maintain the right level of hydration. This product is not intended for children, people under 16 years old or pregnant women. In situations where hydration is important, the 150 mg SiS GO Energy + Caffeine gel can also be taken with SiS GO Hydro or GO Electrolyte to ensure a combination of energy, caffeine and fluid supply.
